How heavy are the putting
greens?
(top)
The material weighs 8.64 ounces per sq foot or
approximately 5 lbs. per yard.
How long will the putting
greens last?
(top)
Our greens have a five-year factory warranty but they
typically last significantly longer.
Will they fade?
(top)
Our greens are UV stabilized so they fade very little over a
long period of time.
How hard are they to
install?
(top)
The basic installation of the 10’ x 15’practice green
featured in the web directions was installed in about three
hours. The 15’ x 20’ practice green takes three people about
three hours.
How do you clean it?
(top)
Use a blower, vacuum (beater
bar optional) or pressure wash (pressure washers can cut
concrete, so don’t get it too close).
How does the StarBall
work?(top)
The Starball’s tentacles
absorb the energy of the golf ball and stops it in the hole.
How do
you set the height of the StarBall on the flag?
(top)
The bottom of the tentacles
should reach the top of the cone in the center of the white
cup for our standard putting green material.
How fast is the
speed of the green?
(top)
Green speeds change with
changes in humidity, temperature, moisture, direction of the
sun, height variations and golf ball dimple configurations.
Our greens are designed with 11 stimp as the goal. Our
greens can be sped up by rolling or sanding (not required)
and slowed down by raking (soft rake).
How do I
create breaks in the green?
(top)
The easiest way to create
breaks in the greens is to fill a zip lock freezer bag with
one to two cup of sand. You can use as many of these bags as
necessary to create the breaks you want in the rolled green.
Can the
green be used on boats, balconies, rooftops or high wind
potential areas?
(top)
If one uses common sense, the
material is quite heavy, but hurricanes and high winds will
require weighing down the edges or gluing the material down.
How is the
optional border and rough attached?
(top)
The border or fringe is seamed
using seam tape and seam glue.
Where is the
putting green made?
(top)
Dalton, Georgia
Why are there five
holes?
(top)
Our greens have five holes to
make the green challenging and fun for years to come. The
holes are positioned for optimum spacing and nine hole
tournament play (see tournament layout).
Why is the green a
kidney shape?
(top)
The kidney shape has a natural
appearance, goes great anywhere and provides different looks
as you play.
What if I want a different size from the factory?
(top)
We sell rolled goods, which
can be custom cut on site, or we can custom cut on our
computer table up to 15’x28’ sections.
Why is the
green made out of nylon instead of polypropylene?
(top)
Nylon receives the chipped
ball more accurately and has a more realistic ball roll. It
also is softer to the touch and makes a much better picnic
surface and is hypo-allergenic.
What
are the advantages of our installation versus sand
filled greens?
(top)
No extensive maintenance. Just blow and go. No water or
wind erosion and no fiber fibulation issues. Ours can be
vacuumed and pressure washed. The speed on our green is more
consistent over uneven surfaces, our cost is much less and
our contours are easily changed.
Are they like real
golf greens?
(top)
Yes. The green is designed to
have the speed of and play of the bent grass green of a
typical country club.
Can my
putting green be used indoors?
(top)
With the Starball putting
cups, it can be used almost anywhere.
What is bridging?
(top)
Bridging is the green’s
ability to stay flat even when there are minor subsurface
irregularities. Our 5 ml backing has the best bridging
available.
What is
the advantage of factory pre-cut?
(top)
No razor knife cuts, the edges
are smooth and clean and the holes are matched perfectly to
the regulation cups. Our factory designed and cut greens
always look great.
What are the best play patterns?
(top)
Simple. Start below the bottom
right hole and shoot the other four holes clockwise. Move to
below the bottom left hole and shoot the other four holes
counter clockwise, and finish with the ninth shot from below
the top right hole to the top left hole.
Will I get bored with it?
(top)
The five holes give you a lot
of targets and keep it challenging. You can also change
contours. |
